ERS believes that successful poverty eradication can only be realized by promoting just and equitable societies; improving human conditions; enhancing productive capacities of households; and promoting just and equitable governance. In particular, ERS’s work shall span the space between direct implementation and facilitation. The organization champions participatory development processes and approaches that transform communities’ mental models and support them generate and use own resources. These include Participatory Integrated Community Development (PICD), Community Led Total Sanitation ERS embraces a constructive engagement approach to its (influencing) work, while maintaining its independence and autonomy – a multi-stakeholders approach is adopted in which NSAs, more so CSOs and private sector are regarded as valued development partners, with whom collaborative arrangements will be sought. ERS will in particular champion justice in relations among women and men and prioritize the rights of people with Eradicating poverty hunger special needs to ensure equal status, opportunities, and rights. and preventable diseases In order to enhance sustainability, ERS pays considerable attention to ‘deeper empowerment’ of community members to take both, individual and collective action for social change, as owners of their development – a ‘people led’ approach. This approach facilitates communities towards own analysis and learning to better understand the factors and powers shaping their living conditions and to prioritize and operationalize self-determined solutions.
